Hand and Footprinting
We didn't get hand or foot prints when she was born, so I wanted to get some before she gets too big. Bought some infant-safe ink online, waited for her to fall asleep...

LABOR DAY WEEKEND

We had a pretty fun weekend, so far. Friday Jon Paul and Andrea came over for dinner. I got home late from work, so nothing was ready when they got here. Brandon wasn't home either, so I had to juggle Catherine while trying to make dinner and entertain. It was pretty hard... Jon Paul ended up preparing the Chicken for me, chopping the potatoes. Andrea did the carrots and the bread. Some host I am. Catherine is a very good baby, but was pretty fussy when they first got here. I don't think they want to have kids for awhile now - real life birthcontrol. We had a good night though. Jon Paul and Andrea were going to the UT game the next day and had to get up early, so they didn't stay very late. We were all pretty tired anyway. Catherine ended up staying up with us until about 9pm despite the early fussing. Nothing a bottle and a little one on one attention couldn't take care of :)

Saturday we got up early and went to the Museum of Fine Arts. We wanted to get out and walk around but it was too hot for anything outdoors. So we went to the museum. Catherine really loves her voice these days, so the large, open rooms in the museum provided just the right acoustics for a great performance of coos and ahhhs. We were able to get about 3 solid hours in before Catherine was done with that place. Afterwards we drove around the nearby neighborhood to look at homes just for fun. There are some really nice homes around there....

We ran into our friends Ryan and Kristin while driving around. Ryan's brother and his wife live in that nice neighborhood. They just had a baby who is one day older than miss Catherine. Kristin got a new car - a volvo SUV! It's really nice! Brandon and I have been looking at cars for awhile trying to figure out what I am going to get next. The volvos are awesome. But I just can't decide what I like. I can't even narrow it down between an SUV or a car. Brandon said I could get something new once I start working, but I'm content for now.

Saturday night, we made an awesome chicken salad and watched a bunch of old episodes of the shotime series, WEEDS. It's pretty interesting....

Sunday, we met my friend Michaela and her husband for brunch at LePeep. Catherine had a great time! She just sat in her carrier and looked around, took in the sights and smells of buttermilk pancakes, maple syrup, bacon and eggs. I had a bowl of oatmeal with fresh cinnamon apples and raisins. yummy.

Afterwards ran a few errands. Picked out a halloween costume for Catherine! It's soooo cute. I'm not going to say what she will be.... you'll have to wait and see.

Last night Charlie, Dani, Dani's mother, Kyle, and Shannon came over for fajitas and boardgames. We played Balderdash. I had never played before, but it was really fun! The concept is hard to explain - one person, "the dasher," reads a topic (ie acronyms) and then gives you the letters (ie. SPOOF). You have to right down what you think it stands for. The dasher rights down what it really stands for. The dasher then collects everyones papers, shuffles them, then reads them to the group. Everyone has to try to guess which is the correct explanation. Some examples we had were: Skittles Poops Only On Fridays, Single Parents Of Ontario Foundation, Society for the Protection Of Old Fishes, etc. Other categories are Marvelous Movies, they give you a title and you have to say what the movie is about (ie. Ruben and Ed - you can imagine what most thought this was about). It got pretty funny as the night went on.

Well, that's it for the weekend, so far. I haven't been this social in a while, so it was fun. Kind of like old times, having people over for dinner, going to brunch, playing games. It was nice. And catherine fit right in!

Some other pictures from the weekend:

May not be able tell here, but Brandon is swinging Catherine in his arms, and she loves it!

The END OF THE YEAR P-A-R-T-Y!

Well, I graduated this weekend - sort of. I will have to make up some time that I missed, so I wont really finish for a few more months. But I was nominated for TDC Resident of the Year so I figured I better go. Plus I did want to walk with my class, been through a lot with those people! I had a lot of fun! Of course Brandon was there and little miss Catherine, dressed in her fancy, pink dress. Who would of thought a 3 month old would get so much use out of a fancy, pink party dress? Brandon's parents came, and my dad and grandmother. It was sad not to have my mom there. I know she would be so proud of me now, I wish she could see us. I think she more than anyone wanted me to be a doctor. I choose Internal Medicine as my specialty because of her. Anyway, the party was really nice, I'm glad everyone came, and I loved my dress (and hair and eyelashes).

Catherine was so well behaved - we have such a good baby. I credit Baby Wise. She slept through the whole ceremony in Bob (Papa Low's) arms. It was cute to see him hold her for so long. I think everyone was impressed at how good she was. My dad said I was a very peaceful, quiet baby too. Aparently Brandon was a little more high strung as a kid. It's good he got that out of his system because he's very cool now.

Brandon's mom brought some baby pictures of Brandon - Cahterine does look a lot like him, Of course we didn't need baby pictures to figure that out. The shape of her face is identical to his at this age. I think she has my nose (I hate my nose) and maybe the shape of my eyes. Unfortunately, I think she has his skin tones - we really wanted her to have my skin. Poor Brandon already has skin cancer..... a basal cell by his ear - going to have MOHS next week. And the jury is still out on the lips. She has my detached ear lobes (yeah! Much prettier than attached, sorry). And she is developing some red hair it seems. I have a lot of dark red hair in my dad's family. Brandon has reddish tints in his beard. So that would be a nice mix. If she does have red hair, I hope it's the pretty red like Kristin's.

Catherine and Hannah - they are in the same class at school. Hannah was born in January, so she is a few months older than Catherine. Her mommy, Six, and I work together. She is in my residency program too!
